Child safety

Keeping children off tdar.

tdar is a dating app for adults in Ethiopia. Nobody under 18 may use it. This page says what tdar does to keep children off it, and what tdar does if we find child sexual abuse or exploitation here. We shorten that to CSAE below, because that is the term the law and the app stores use.

This page is written in plain words. It is about tdar and nothing else.

The state of this page.

What this isThe floor of what tdar's child safety standard says today. Not the full standard. A fuller version, with a working review process behind every promise, replaces this once that process exists.
Who wrote itWe did, from how tdar works. A lawyer has not read it yet.
What changesA lawyer will read it, and the review process this page depends on will get built. Both change what this page can honestly say.
The gapsMarked where they belong: not built for a promise waiting on code.

The short version
  1. Our standard, in one line
  2. What is never allowed
  3. Keeping children off tdar
  4. Telling us about a child
  5. Who we tell
  6. How to reach us

1 · Our standard, in one line

tdar has no place for children and no tolerance for anybody who seeks them. We keep under-18s off tdar at the door, we remove anybody who breaks this, and we report confirmed abuse material to the authorities.

2 · What we mean, and what is never allowed

A child means anybody under 18.

These things are never allowed on tdar. Not once, not as a joke, not in private. An account that does any of them is removed, and there is no warning first.

These rules are also in our terms §4, and breaking them ends an account there too.

3 · Keeping children off tdar

You must be 18 or older to use tdar. There is no younger version and no under-18 mode.

We ask for your date of birth when you sign up. The app will not let you pick a date under 18, and our servers refuse to create or change an account with a date of birth under 18. So it is not only the app on the phone that checks. If somebody gets past the app, the server still says no.checked · firestore.rules:414-423, applied at :442,:449

We do not pretend this proves an age. A date of birth is something a person types. We do not check identity documents and we do not estimate age from a face. What we do is refuse the account at two layers instead of one, and remove any account we believe belongs to somebody under 18.not built · NB-24, no age assurance beyond a typed date exists today

tdar has no public feed. Nobody can browse tdar without an account, and an account needs a phone number and a date of birth over 18.checked · firestore.rules:213-214, no anonymous read anywhere

tdar does not scan pictures or messages. We have no tool that recognises a known abuse image, no tool that judges whether somebody in a photo is a child, and no tool that reads your messages looking for anything. We rely on people telling us.checked · google_mlkit absent, no content-scanning code path in firebase/functions/src

A store setting, not a page

Google Play requires dating apps to turn on Restrict Declared Minors in Play Console, blocking anybody whose declared age is under 18. Mandatory for the Dating category since 28 January 2026. It is a console setting, not code, and it should be confirmed there rather than assumed from this page.not built · NB-42

4 · Telling us about a child, or about somebody seeking one

Anybody on tdar can remove anybody, at any time. Open their card or your chat and remove them. They vanish from your sky, your deck and your chats, and you vanish from theirs. It works at once and needs nobody's permission.

Write to childsafety@tdar.app to tell us about a child on tdar, or about somebody seeking one. You do not need an account to write to us.

If you believe a child is in danger right now, tell the police first. We are not an emergency service and we cannot reach anybody faster than they can.

What this page does not yet claim

This page does not promise a review time for a report, because nothing today reads a report and none of the reasons on the in-app removal sheet name a child. That is drafted as its own, fuller standard, and it replaces this section once a report reaches somebody. Row 552.

5 · Who we tell

If we become aware of child sexual abuse material on tdar, we do not treat it as an ordinary account problem. We remove the account, and we intend to report confirmed material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children through its CyberTipline, and to the relevant Ethiopian authority.not built · NB-22, no report has been filed and nobody is registered with NCMEC yet

We answer a lawful request from a police force or a court.

6 · How to reach us

For anything else, write to support@tdar.app.
